Week 12 of Pekarek’s Produce CSA

Dobry Den!

I’m sure you’ve all noticed the change in weather and hopefully appreciated it as much as we have.  This week we have been transplanting another set of14,000+ broccoli plants.  While we began transplanting with the transplanter, we quickly found that because the ground is so dry, we could not sit on the machine to plant.  So this batch was planted in three different days by about 11 different people.  This was no small feat as it meant crawling on hands and knees. We are excited to have completed transplanting last night.  Hopefully it won’t take long before the broccoli looks like this again:

Now that that’s accomplished Ryan has returned his thoughts and efforts to another planting of lettuce and radishes.  We are also watching our no-till pumpkins come up. Below is how we began transplanting.

What’s in today’s bag:

This week’s full share has:

  • Squash, Carrots, Onions, Roma Tomatoes, Yellow Tomatoes

This week’s partial share has:

  • Watermelon, Squash, Onions
